I am 32, living with my partner Dave. Two years ago I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. A few operations later, and I find that I have managed to pile on lots of weight, making me 3 stone overweight.
Until now, I've not felt well enough or ready to make a concious effort, but times have changed... In the past I've done Slimming World, which I found really good and helped me to lose lots of weight. But at the moment, finances are strained. We're in the process of buying a house, and I'm only working part time. So, this time, I've decided to go it alone, and try to follow the Glycemic Index (G.I.) diet.
You're here to encourage me. I can't cheat if you're all following my progress! Well, I hope that I can be honest with you and with myself about what I'm doing about my weight. Hopefully, I can lose 2 stone by Christmas 2004... then I'll be a gorgeous angel for the top of the tree! :)
Obviously, as time goes on, I will probably write about other things. Don't expect to read too much about me and Dave, I don't think it's fair to him to include him more than I need to... and there's a few things I'd like to keep private.
